COVER: Gisborne husband and wife surfers James and Tanya Fowell. James (Ngati Kanohi) is a school
teacher and former national surfing representative.
At the time this issue went to press, the couple were in Tahiti where James was coach of the New Zealand team at the Quiksilver World Junior Championships.
They have three children — Jurnee (8), Shayna (4) and Braden (2).
